No One Came To This Dog's Birthday Party, But The Owner's Story Has A Major Twist

We all know the story of PawPaw, the man who invited a bunch of his grandkids over for burgers and only one showed up.

It's always sad when people get stood up at parties. Especially when the person throwing the party is a wholesome individual who just wants to have fun with their loved ones. Like this 9-year-old kid or this little girl.

The more adorable or innocent the person who got stood up, the most we feel bad for them.

And it doesn't get much more adorable or innocent than puppies.

So when Twitter user @NasMaraj tweeted this photo of a sad dog who got stood up at his own birthday party, the Internet understandably freaked out.

The tears were flowing.

People even referenced the unforgettably sad PawPaw saga.

People were ready to make things all better for the depressed doggo.

Others were ready to throw hands.

@NasMaraj said that to make it up to Doug, he was going to throw a make-up party.

There was a tiny problem though: Doug isn't @NasMaraj's dog.

A quick reverse Google image search shows that the photo of the Bulldog is pretty old.

The hoax was carried out by 17-year-old Nasiir Williams from Atlanta, Georgia.

He admitted in an interview with BuzzFeed that he only did it because he was "really bored one day" and that he got the idea from the original PawPaw tragedy and the sad Pitbull on Halloween.

There are a lot of people who still don't know that the post was fake and think that they're going to a party for Doug, however.

If you ask me, this seems like an '80s comedy IRL.

"I don't know how long I can keep it up before people find my address and forcefully send gifts. I feel kinda bad," William said.

It just goes to show that people are willing to believe anything as long as there's a cute dog in trouble involved.
