Lately it seems like the whole world is in a state of unrest and we're all doomed. Hmm, that could certainly be true! But I choose to have faith in the next generation, who have been watching us completely mess things up. You see, they're learning what not to do. They're figuring out how to organize, protest, and stand up to hate. And it's frankly inspiring. Just look at this little girl telling off a Donald Trump impersonator:
There are examples of young people doing what's right and defending democracy, love and equality all over the world. Like this young person standing up to riot policeman during a demonstration on the anniversary of Pinochet's military coup in Chile. A violent and terrible history, but this girl's spirit is definitely not broken:
This kid is promising a better future, and I believe he'll follow through:
Saffiyah Khan stood up to this far-right protestor who was harassing a woman in a headscarf, and any time you're feeling bullied, you should picture the look on her face:
Or maybe the very similar expression on this Girl Scout, Lucie, who faced off against a neo-Nazi and looks more powerful than a screaming, grown man:
The youths. They have so much to teach us. There is one thing us olds can still teach them about viral protest photos though: Bring a glass of Chardonnay. When you're legal!!
