When Madeleine Tarin's mother graduated high school in 2000, Madeline was already two years old; her parents had given birth to her when they were both 16. Now that Madeline herself is 18 and just had her high school graduation, she used the occasion to recreate the photo—in the most adorable way possible.
"At first, I just wanted to show my friends and followers I had a story that a lot of people didn't really know about me and my main motive to why I've strived so hard to be successful in high school and will continue to strive in college," she told BuzzFeed News about the tweet, which has gone viral with 77,000 retweets. "The picture to me symbolized my family's accomplishments, and that my parents beat the statistics."
Tarin told BuzzFeed that her parents began dating in their freshman year of high school, and even through her mother's pregnancy, they stayed together, eventually marrying when they were in their mid-twenties.

"My parents are very successful now," said Tarin, who is going to Rider University in New Jersey this fall on an athletic and academic scholarship. "They did everything right in my eyes."

"This whole year, I've been waiting to take this photo," Tarin told BuzzFeed. "And when I posted it and saw how much people had been inspired by, it gave me and my parents even more of a sense of accomplishment."
