Mayonnaise can be terrible or it can be delicious. It all depends on how you use it.
If you're scooping it out with a spoon and eating it by itself like peanut butter, you should feel like the goddamned savage you are. Mayonnaise on just white bread and bologna is almost just as gross. But put that bad boy on a cheeseburger with some ketchup and now we're talking. Chipotle mayo is actually pretty damn good, and mayo on french fries isn't all that bad, either. And with tomatoes and American cheese and turkey with some shredded lettuce? Well that ain't my cup of tea, but I can totally see the appeal.
However, there are some food items that, in my humble opinion, should never have mayo put on them.
Apparently, some people think that mayonnaise and peas on pizza is a delicious matrimony of flavor. After all, mayonnaise on pizza is already a hit in Japan, for example. But for me, this combination just doesn't sit right.
I actually like pineapple on pizza, but I get where they're coming from.
Which devolved into an incredible conversation.
