Erin Zettle of Lapeer, Michigan, was shocked when she returned home to find that a vandal had painted a swastika on the front door of her house.
Zettle posted on Facebook that she "cried, and cried" after discovering the graffiti. Asking "Was it religious or political or just nasty?" "The thing is," she added, "this isn’t my community. This is happening in my community, but I will not judge my community based on the worst of actions."
As she prepared to cover the swastika in paint, she had a change of heart and decided to do something positive instead.
