The Wyoming, Minnesota police department rose to viral fame yesterday after they posted this image of their plans to catch stoners on 4/20. The tweet attracted over 170,000 retweets and 350,000 likes despite causing some controversy.
But some people took the opportunity to take a look back at the force's previous tweets, and discovered this gem.
On April 2, the police department's official Twitter account wrote, "A man thought he found drugs in his wifes purse & contacted us. He was happy to learn that the items were just a broken cocktail umbrella."
Naturally, people pointed out the absurdity of the situation, and a majority of commenters took the husband to task for snitching on his significant other.
"You know what else is broken now? His marriage," one Twitter user wrote. Another added, "Did the wife call a divorce attorney, after the police left? I would."
Others wanted to know what he was doing going through her purse in the first place. "They obviously don't communicate at all. Its sad, I worry if they were actual drugs..he'd have legit gotten his own wife apprehended!! Sad!" someone remarked under the tweet.
Of course, there was one person who asked what the rest of us were thinking...
"Who gave her a cocktail umbrella so important she had to hang on to it?" That's what I want to know!
Kudos to the Wyoming Police Department for solving the case so quickly. Here's hoping you celebrated with a few tropical drinks and some cocktail umbrellas of your own.
