It's come to my attention that there's a significant demographic of individuals out there who (wrongly) accuse Die Hard of not being a Christmas film. Technically it's an Action Movie that takes place during the Christmas season. So there are merits for both.
I know, crazy, right? Just look at the mounds of evidence that prove it most certainly is.
Despite the fact that it clearly is, there are tons of people on Twitter who are engaging in a pointless back and forth, arguing whether or not the 1988 Bruce Willis classic can be filed under the "Christmas movies" category. There's certainly proof from both sides to prove that the film does indeed fall under the category of a Christmas classic as it's become a staple for many families to rewatch the movie every year. Heck even some networks are airing the film in marathon chunks every Christmas eve.
Some think the holiday backdrop is purely a coincidence that just helps give the film its plot. A bold argument to go against the horde of Bruce Willis faithfuls.
Others (correctly) state the film's true genre as being a true Christmas movie that JUST happens to also be an action movie.
Some out there think it's funny to just roll their eyes at the ones on the right path who are just trying to seem 'trendy,' but true fans can spot it.
But hey, don't listen to me. Let's put it to a vote. Is Die Hard truly a Christmas movie?
Oh wow. Would you look at that! Seems most tend to side with the Christmas movie groups.
Some people pointed out some worthy mentions of other amazing Christmas films that aren't sappy snooze-fests.
Die Hard > A Christmas Story. There, I said it.
