Thomas Dane is a writer/actor born and raised in Astoria, Queens New York and West Palm Beach Florida. He likes to be referred to as a proud NewYoridian. Thomas has been involved in the arts from a young age. He was awarded a prestigious Young Creative Scholarship and attended the International Fine Arts College in Miami, with a major in Film Production.

While in college Thomas wrote, directed and edited five short films while immersing himself in the South Florida theater and film scene. He became a local working actor and theatre producer. His company, “The Baby Factor” emphasized works that were more obscure and focused on the strain of human connection. They produced several successful projects including Nicky Silver’s ‘Raised in Captivity’ and Terrence McNally’s ‘Corpus Christi.’

He traveled north, back home to New York in 2006 to study with Austin Pendleton, Larry Moss and Kate McGregor Stewart. Since then he has acted in over thirty stage productions Off Broadway and WAY Off-Off!

In 2010 he was commissioned by Stage Left Studio’s to write a One-Act play for their season, which parlayed into his first professional production as a writer. His play ‘Scrambled’ was met with acclaim and went on to be produced nationally and won a Special Jury Prize at the Manhattan Rep New Works Festival.

Since then he has written several One Act plays and two features that have been performed in New York and Florida. In 2016 he was asked to be the resident playwright for Watch Out Web, a non for profit Ft. Lauderdale based production company whose focus is influencing community through works that provoke challenge and change. His centerpiece work of that season was his Full Length play ‘becoming’, the story of a transgender woman, the people that affect her most and all their paths to self-love. The play is in early development stages for 2018.

He is also currently in collaboration to adapt several of his One Acts into short films and ‘Scrambled’ into a feature while penning two television series ideas to be presented this fall.

At the moment Thomas resides in Weehawken New Jersey. He is proficient in British dialect and anything Adele. He is a member of Actor’s Equity/SAG-AFTRA and The Dramatist’s Guild. He is also a single Sagittarius looking for adventure, preferably with someone who keeps up with their head meds and loves his dog Juliet as much as he does.
