Viewers on TikTok seemed just as appalled as Laura Henshaw was upon discovering the ... unique location her husband selected for their toothbrushes in their suitcase ahead of a trip.
"I'm crying, I'm crying," Laura ekes out in the beginning of her video, which she records while seated on the floor.
She explains why she's laughing so much in her clip, "You're gonna die once you see how my husband packed the toiletries. I had already packed my toiletries but I forgot to put my toothbrush in. So I asked him if he could put my toothbrush in his toiletries bag and this is what he's done," she says, looking into the camera.
The TikToker then pans her camera over to show where her husband decided to place a tootbrush in their luggage. And there it is, poking out of a sneaker.
"Our toiletries are in his f------ shoes," she states in what sounds like disbelief.
"That is actually, like, that is my toothbrush sticking —" she can't even finish her thought and begins laughing into the camera again as she reaches into the sneaker and extricates his toothbrush, which is jammed inside of the sneaker.
One might be able to console themselves with the fact that the bristles of her toothbrush, at least, weren't touching the interior of his sneaker ... however, his was lodged pretty deep in there.
"His toothbrush is in the shoe," she says, continuing to laugh. "In his running shoes," she says. "I'm crying, I'm crying, oh my God," Laura remarks, flipping the camera's orientation to center on her face again.
"I don't even know what to say," she utters through laughter at the end of the clip, her palm resting on her forehead.
Commenters who responded to her video seemed just as concerned and perplexed as she was over the packing choice. "Seriously need a vid of him explaining whyyyyy???" one TikToker wrote.
Another clarified that she now no longer has a toohbrush after discovering her husband thought his worn-down running sneakers was a good place for their toiletries to stay: "That *was* your toothbrush. You no longer have a toothbrush."
Someone else quipped that this type of offense would be one that warrants a call to the authorities: "I don’t know why you’re laughing, I would be calling the police."
Which was a sentiment shared by another user on the application who wrote: "Please get this man a toothbrush cover and a toiletry bag because that deserves JAIL."
There was another user on the app who pointed out a fact that made her discovery all the more disconcerting: "YOU HAVE SWAPPED SPIT WITH THIS MAN."
Apparently, there were a lot of folks who also thought about this exact same scenario: how did she feel about the fact she's romantically linked to someone who is completely fine with placing their toothbrush inside of their sneakers? "The way I wouldn't be able to kiss him again though noooo."
For others this was a relationship-ending offense: "If my BF did this, he’s single. The INSTANT he does it. Single."
While another person replied: "SEND THIS TO THE GIRL WHO ASKED WHY MARRIAGE IS HARD."
One user couldn't understand why it would've been so difficult to just place the toothbrush inside of ziplock bag before deciding to toss it into a dirty sneaker: "AT LEAST PUT IT IN A ZIPLOCK BAG!!!!!"
According to this AARP article, a person's "packing style ... is a window into your soul."
The writer, Judith Fein, says she's observed four different types of packers in her travels and has broken them down into a few categories. There are "Worriers" who meticulously pack their suitcase a week before they hit the road but are still concerned about whatever could go wrong.
Then there are the "Consensus Builder" packers who are constantly asking for feedback from other people about what they should include in their luggage, followed by the "I've Got this" individual who manages to get every outfit for every occasion down pat. The last one is the "Eleventh Hour" packer who has anxiety about what to bring so they just throw a bunch of stuff in their luggage and hope for the best.
However, because they operate in this fashion, they're almost always expecting the unexpected, which means that as a result, they're usually really fun on trips and ready to squeeze enthusiasm out of every situation they're in, even if things don't go according to plan.
There wasn't any mention of packers who place toothbrushes inside of their sneakers, however, so maybe that's an "Eleventh Hour" thing, unless Laura's husband distinctly decided to put their toiletries inside of his jogging kicks.
