There are some people who just exercise better with a buddy.
I know when I first started lifting weights I got some of the best results when I'd hit the gym with my older brother. After our schedules changed and we couldn't hit the iron as hard together, his discipline outshone mine and yes, I'd show up to lift, but never with the same intensity as when I'd go with my big bro.
Chalk it up to wanting some motivation or enjoying the communal aspect of being human, but I like having a workout partner and oftentimes get someone to tag along with me when I lift. Even if they don't go to the same gym as I do (shhhhh).
