This afternoon, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is facing a Senate hearing for his involvement in the scandal plaguing the Trump administration, specifically their ties to Russia, and Sessions' involvement in the termination of FBI director James Comey. Sessions requested that hearing be public, perhaps because he anticipated that Americans who are sympathetic to Trump and the White House would be won over by his "gee, shucks" attitude. There probably are people like that, but on Twitter, there are plenty of people who don't quite see it that way.
And though it's been depressing to watch Sessions stonewall his former "colleagues," as he persistently called the people interrogating him throughout, there were still a few things to laugh about.
Some people were reminded of characters Sessions doesn't look like, but who he embodies spiritually:
Sessions, basically - I did not have diplomatic relations with that man, Mr. Kislyak— Hunter Walker (@hunterw) June 13, 2017
Though many just stuck to his testimony, which from my perspective, just fluctuated between "I forgot" and "it never happened."
He also finished his opening statements with some seemingly random thoughts on crime and drug abuse, because why not:
It's unclear what will come of all these hearings, but as long as Twitter is around, we can all commiserate in what a nightmare it is together!
