Pastor John Paul Miller Is Seen in Public with Alleged "Girlfriend" Days After His Wife's Death

After the death of pastor John Paul Miller’s wife, Mica Miller, the internet is going wild with conspiracy theories. Pastor Miller is a public figure in the Myrtle Beach area, and he questionably announced his wife’s suicide through a sermon at his church, Solid Rock Ministries. After a clip of the sermon made the rounds, conspiracy theorists started speculating foul play and found that the pastor may have a girlfriend named Suzie Skinner.
While Miller painted his marriage to Mica as picture-perfect after her death while emphasizing Mica’s mental health struggles, he did not mention their recent separation or divorce filings. But they have been separated long enough for Miller to allegedly start dating someone new.

As various internet sleuths look into Miller’s life, they have found a connection between him and a Myrtle Beach-based physical therapist named Suzie Skinner. While little is known about Skinner — she’s impossible to find on Facebook and LinkedIn, although she does have a ZocDoc profile — a former blog post about her from the Solid Rock website has been reshared on Reddit. The Solid Rock website has been taken down amid the extra media attention from Mica’s death.
The spotlight article on Skinner details her life as a wife, mother, and physical therapist before her husband tragically passed away in 2021. Her husband, Chris Skinner, was in a car accident in 2000 before they met due to a drunk driver. Chris broke his neck in the accident and became a quadriplegic. When going to therapy to re-learn how to use his hands, he became Skinner’s patient and the two hit it off.
They married in 2004, but in 2021, Chris fell into a nearby pool and drowned. “Chris always went to the pool and walked his dog,” Skinner said in the article. “If somebody was around, they would let him into the gate of the pool and he would go in there all the time.
"That day, I guess when he was driving [his wheelchair], nobody was there, and he got too close to the edge and fell in … A neighbor had to come to get me and she said, ‘You have to get to the pool right away,’ and I just had that instinct. I just knew.”
The two shared twins together, who are now at least 16 years old, so Skinner was left as a single mother after the incident. Redditors think the incident seems suspicious, but it’s more likely that it was just an accident. Even still, both Skinner and Miller now have a shared bond of losing a loved one prematurely, although they were allegedly dating before Miller took her own life (as determined by the Robeson County Medical Examiner).

The timelines are messy regarding when Miller and his ex-wife started the separation process and when he started dating Skinner. According to some documents, he sought spousal support in February 2024, which was denied, although Skinner sought her own support in April.
Just days after the hearing, in which Mica finally filed for divorce and a no-contact order, she mysteriously passed away. She even supposedly told friends beforehand that she was not mentally ill and that Miller would likely try to “frame her” for her own death.
Those are just some of the many suspicious circumstances surrounding Mica’s death. In an alleged statement from Skinner regarding photos of her eating cozily with Miller, she said, “He is my friend. His wife died four days ago and he had no one to eat with. He asked some people to sit with him, but no one could go. So when asked if I could go, I went. We’ve been friends for years.
“It wasn’t a date. People also said he took his wife’s life but we think she called the police before she did that and said she bought a gun and wanted to kill herself and wanted to make sure they could ping her phone so her family could find the body … Then she did it. She has attempted suicide before, she is schizophrenic, bipolar, and has dependent personality disorder.
"She put herself off her medication starting in December, against her doctor’s orders and JP’s wishes, and even texted her family to tell them she was doing it …”
While the relationship between Miller and Skinner has not been confirmed, they have clearly been close for a long time.
