If you're reading this, you most likely remember the 2016 presidential election. And while you might not *want* to recall that massively devastating race, one highlight was — without a doubt — independent presidential candidate Deez Nuts.

In case you don't recall Deez Nuts, let me jog your memory because his 2016 presidential run was nothing short of legendary. On July 26, 2015, 15-year-old Brady Olson from Iowa decided to file as a candidate for POTUS under the pseudonym Deez Nuts.

And if any of that manages to ring a bell, you might be wondering what happened to Deez Nuts since then. Despite the fact that he won't be running again, it seems like Deez Nuts is doing just fine.

What happened to Deez Nuts?

Deez Nuts gained tremendous popularity on the internet almost instantaneously... mostly because of his highly memorable presidential name. His campaign, however, was relatively extensive, supporting same-sex marriage, abortion, sustainability, and a balanced budget. Overall, he sounded pretty fit to run. Minus the fact he was 15, that is.

And despite Deez's success (he drew 8% in Minnesota and 7% in Iowa in a Public Policy Poll) he isn't planning to run again, according to The Gazette. Dang.

Right now, Deez is spending his time studying finance at the University of Iowa. He still follows politics — according to his official Facebook Page, he's rooting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. However, he doesn't want to get too involved... aka you won't be seeing any 'Deez Nuts 2020' posters lying around.

"I don't foresee ever running again," Brady told The Gazette. “People don’t want to see a sequel." So, there you have it.

The former presidential candidate mostly uses his Deez Nuts Twitter account to tweet about sports nowadays, and like I said, he still occasionally makes political posts on his official Facebook page

Otherwise, though, Brady isn't very active on social media — it seems like he wants to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. According to the Global Gazette, the 20-year-old college student is satisfied with being "just another face in the crowd." And that's perfectly understandable.

Deez isn't the first — well — random candidate to gain notoriety. According to NPR, back in 2015, a feline from Louisville, Ky. named Limberbutt McCubbins filed with the FEC to run for POTUS.

McCubbins was submitted by Isaac Weiss, a 17-year-old senior at duPont Manual High School. He listed his friend's cat to run, because "he thought it would be funny," and if you ask me, he would have made for a fantastic demo-cat-ic candidate. Oh, well.

Alas, it's been officially confirmed that Deez Nuts is not — in fact — planning to run for president again. However, it's good to know he's doing just fine. So hopefully he's enjoying dorm life to the fullest.

Having a 15-year-old in the White House, however, would have made for an excellent Disney Channel Original Movie plot... maybe someday.
