Amid major criticism about the Iran War, the White House has come out trying to explain what the operation in the Middle East was supposed to achieve. The way they decided to go about it, however, might seem a little bizarre.

The Trump Administration has often resorted to using popular intellectual properties (IPs) in their post and videos, and this time, they decided to go with The Office.

'The Office' Reference That Was Made in the White House Post

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth took to the White House’s social media account to shed light on what exactly is happening in Iran. He stated, “Operation Epic Fury is not an endless war; it's a decisive campaign with clear objectives to destroy Iran's military, offensive military capabilities and ensure they never obtain a nuclear weapon.”

That in itself would have been a satisfactory update, but the post also contained something rather surprising. A video posted along with the statement cut to Michael Scott from The Office, played by actor Steve Carell, who says, “Why don't you explain this to me like I am an eight-year-old?”

Secretary Hegseth was then seen explaining the Trump administration's stance on the ongoing war in Iran. He said, “No news, complete dismantling of their missile program and defense this defense.” This was followed by The Office's theme song.

Effects of the Iran War

With 50,000 troops already deployed, the region has never seen this kind of presence from the United States military. President Trump has also said that he expects the operation to be completed in the next couple of weeks.

The war at large has caused global fears of an energy crisis. Countries have already been bracing for higher oil prices, especially after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranian regime. The United States is also currently facing the adverse effects soaring oil prices. The Trump-Vance ticket has been significantly hurt by the rising prices and the war in Iran.

However, there has been some clarity from the White House about what this entire military operation wanted to do. While it has been mentioned before that the goal was regime change, the White House has since clarified, for now, that the main goal of the operation was to cripple and destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities -- a goal that was supposedly achieved in the 2025 attack on the state as well.
