Rumors started circulating that Tye Sheridan would be in the 'Dune' 2020 remake.

The 2020 Dune remake is the third movie adaptation of the book written by Frank Herbert. The film has been highly anticipated, and the excitement for its release and any details before then were highly discussed on social media and movie threads across the web. People wanted to know who was getting set to remake the characters in the latest adaptation, and one of the biggest rumors centered around Feyd Harkonnen, the sinister character that was played by Sting in the first movie.

Rumor had it that the character was getting set to return in the latest film release, and Tye Sheridan was supposedly playing the character. According to Bleeding Cool, there was a moment in time that Tye's name was allegedly listed as the person playing Feyd, but it seems that is likely a rumor or the image that circulated at the time (which is now deleted) was edited and not the real thing.

The first promo of the movie was released on Sept. 9, 2020, and the details and characters didn't have any mention of Tye Sheridan being involved in the movie. Also, the IMDb listing doesn't have anyone set to reprise the role of Feyd.

Fans are divided on Feyd not being cast.

At this point, it certainly does look like Feyd will not be a part of Denis Villeneuve's Dune adaptation. In the original story, Feyd was the younger nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and he was a part of the Baron's plans to gain power. Though not the main antagonist, he did play a role, proudly continuing the Harkonnen trend of sadism and cruelty. He met his demise at the hands of Paul Atreides.

Altogether, an argument could be made that it makes sense for him to simply be omitted from the new film. Which is what one Redditor suggested, when fans first began asking who would be playing him in the new adaptation. However, he was met with several responses explaining why leaving Feyd out would be a mistake.

While some said that he was the "anti-Paul," offering a foil to the main character which will be played by Timothée Chalamet, others said that he is even more important than that. One Redditor noted, "He is an example of the danger in the BG breeding program; what can happen if exceptional genes have no moral compass ... Count and Lady Fenring say this during the arena fight. Feyd is a testament to the Atreides way of thinking and operating."

However, others noted that they didn't need to cast anyone because, simply, no one could compare to the iconic Sting.

Only time will tell if we will indeed see Feyd in the film, as more information will be released ahead of its tentative release date of Dec. 18, 2020.
