NFL Players Are Rocking Tie-Dye Hats in Support of Early Cancer Detection
By Mustafa GatollariUpdated
Why are NFL players wearing tie-dye clothing on the field lately? It's a strange sight because when you think of tie-dye designs, the first image that pops into your head probably isn't a bunch of burly men tackling each other on a field and grunting in a gym somewhere running endless drills.
Why is the NFL rocking tie-dye gear out of nowhere?
As it turns out though, the tie-dye designs that the NFL is promoting have to do with the league's partnership with the American Cancer Society for the Crucial Catch Program.

The CCP specializes in detecting and stopping various forms of cancer early on, urging individuals to regularly get tested to give them a bigger and better fighting chance.
The multi-color apparel look teams are wearing this month, including the tie dye hats, it's for the NFL's Crucial Catch program which focuses on the prevention & early detection of multiple cancer. Early detection caught mine & I'm very thankful. Info: https://t.co/KqoTtRxM4N

Responses to the tie-dye hats got people wondering just what in the world was going on, which was kind of the point. Folks began flocking to Google to discover what the tie-dye designs were for and found that it was not only a way to bring awareness to testing for all types of cancer, but that they could get their favorite team's logo on a groovy new article of clothing.
The @nfl really hit us with the “All Cancer Matters” with that tie dye for breast cancer awareness month

You can purchase tie-dye NFL apparel in support of the Crucial Catch Program.
From spaced-out hats to tie-dye long sleeve shirts and hoodies, if you've got a team you love repping, then there's some form of acid-looking design for sale. Not all of the tie-dye clothing items are for the Crucial Catch program, however. Just the ones that are labeled as such will donate proceeds to the American Cancer Society.
these NFL tie-dye barf hats just disrespectful to Cancer research

All profits from specified NFL tie-dye apparel will go to the American Cancer Society.
What's cool is that all of the profits are going to the American Cancer Society, which means that the NFL isn't seeing a penny from the proceeds of the hats. All of that money is going to help people catch different forms of cancer early on, which is pretty darn righteous.

The hats continue to receive mixed responses from fans who are either in love with the new designs, or absolutely loathe them. Of course, there are several individuals who also used the new tie-dye designs to create a slew of memes that reference either Phish, the Grateful Dead or a litany of other stoner phenomena.
@SteadyRiot just looked, NFL shop has the tie dye crucial catch Bills hats in again, if you’re a snap kinda guy.

As you can see, the meaning behind the NFL tie-dye hats is a positive one.
You can check out all of the different items on the NFL shop here. Remember, depending on what tie-dye item you buy, all of the money goes to cancer research, so you're not only going to be rocking a hat that Justin Bieber would totally be envious of, but you're helping out those in need, too.
