Get your Pokémon ready, because there's another Pokémon GO challenge to complete before Go Fest 2020.
Leading up to the Pokémon Go Fest 2020, there's a new battle challenge for players to compete, and this time it's to defeat Team Go Rocket. Similar to the skill challenges set out by the game previously, the battle weekly challenge offers new opportunities to train your Pokémon in battle in preparation for Go Fest 2020.
This is the second of three challenge sets leading up to the event.
What is the Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Battle?
The battle challenge is part of a series of timed challenges leading up to the Pokémon Go Fest. The challenge before this one was the skill challenge, and both of these will prep you for the Go Fest.
The battle challenges are similar to the research quests in the game; if you complete the challenges, you'll receive rewards and prizes that are sometimes exclusive to those challenges. You only have until July 15 to complete the battle challenge quests.
During this time, dark-type and psychic-type Pokémon will spawn more frequently, and you can challenge Team Rocket grunts by going to any of the group's balloons floating around.
There are three different steps to the battle challenge, and you have to complete the steps in order to move on to fully complete the challenge. Here are the battle challenge steps with the corresponding rewards.
- Power up a Pokémon: 100 Stardust
- Evolve a Pokémon: One Rare Candy
- Defeat a Team Go Rocket Grunt: Two Hyper Potions
The reward for completing step one includes 100 XP, five Revives, and five Hyper Potions.
- Purify two shadow Pokémon: Two Max Revives
- Power up a Pokémon two times: 200 Stardust
- Defeat two Team Go Rocket Grunts: Two Max Potions.
The reward for completing step two includes three Max Potions, three Max Revives, and an encounter with Hitmonlee.
- Purify three shadow Pokémon: Three Max Revives
- Power up Pokémon three times: 500 Stardust
- Defeat three Team Go Rocket Grunts: Three Max Potions.
The reward for completing step three includes one Rare Candy, the Super Rocket Radar, and an encounter with Absol.
Completing the weekly challenge unlocks the Elite Go Fest Battle Challenge.
If you complete all three steps required for the weekly challenge before 10 p.m. local time on July 15, you'll unlock a special Elite Go Fest Battle Challenge, offering you even more opportunities to earn rewards to prepare you for the Go Fest.
There are three challenges you need to complete to finish this set of challenges. If you're looking to put your Pokémon in the best position for Go Fest 2020, we recommend trying to complete them.
Elite Go Fest Battle Challenge:
- Defeat 15 Team Go Rocket Grunts: Five Super Potions
- Defeat 5 Team Go Rocket Leaders: Five Hyper Potions
- Defeat the Team Go Rocket Boss: Five Max Potions
The reward for completing all of these steps is 500 XP, 500 Stardust, and five Razz Berries.
