The Best Ways to Increase Your Chances of Being the Imposter in 'Among Us'

Online multiplayer game Among Us has skyrocketed to popularity — so much so that the game's developers canceled their planned sequel to focus on improving the current game.

Anyone who has played this highly addictive game knows that the best part of the game is playing the imposter. But what is the best way to make sure you're the imposter every time?

Statistically, there isn't a way to increase your chances of being the imposter in a match, as the game's programming sets it so every player has an equal chance of being the imposter. 

Unfortunately, that means there aren't any clear hacks in the game that will guarantee you the role of the imposter in a role.

According to the game's Wiki page, your chances of being the imposter are increased by the number of imposters in a match, or by lowering the number of participants in a match. For example, if you have a match of fewer than 10 players, your chances of being selected as the imposter increase. 

You can also increase your chances by selecting more imposters per match, though it still does not guarantee selection.

While there are no guaranteed ways of being the imposter in every match you play, players have been sharing their hacks which they claim increases your chances of being selected as the imposter in a match. 

Some reddit users have claimed that hosting a match without inviting other players through a code increases your chances of becoming the imposter.

"It feels like every time I host a game without anybody [joining] with a code I’m almost always the imposter and my friends say hosting gives you the biggest chance," one reddit user wrote.

There are also various YouTube videos out there with other claims that will make you the imposter in every game. In a video from YouTube creator Adi Gamer, he offers a series of movements to do before a match starts to guarantee you the role of the imposter.

In the video, he says you need to circle the box where you can customize your look six to seven times — though don't select the customizer — and then go stand behind the box all the way on the right until the match starts. He claims this works best when you play in a match with two imposters.

Another YouTuber, Xeexhxn, claims that opening your customization and "spamming" the hats or pets (meaning changing them rapidly) when there is only five seconds until the match starts will cause a glitch, making you the imposter in the match.

There are also various third party apps that you can download that will increase your chances of becoming the imposter in the game, though it's best to be wary when using those.

All of this being said, none of these methods have been proven to be 100 percent effective. The best way to increase your chances at becoming the imposter is to participate in a smaller match with a higher number of imposters.
