Since it was released back in 1963, Lucky Charms cereal has been a favorite among kids as well as adults who never fully grew up. Everyone has a marshmallow they love far above the rest, whether it's the horseshoes or the rainbows.
Now, Smartmouth Brewing Company in Norfolk, Virginia, is combining our favorite childhood cereal with our adult indulgences. The company announced in an Instagram post that they'd be releasing an IPA made with marshmallows named Saturday Morning.
The beer is inspired by the Lucky Charms cereal and was brewed with toasted marshmallows and dehydrated marshmallow bits. The company wrote:
"This Saturday (3/2) is the release of Saturday Morning, our newest IPA with marshmallows. Brewed with house toasted marshmallows and cereal marshmallows in the mash, hopped with Galaxy and Calypso, and dry hopped a whole lot more. This IPA is sure to set you back with nostalgia, on the couch, turning on the best cartoons for a Saturday morning."
“Designed to remind you of your childhood when you used to sort through bowls of your favorite breakfast cereal to separate the marshmallows from the cereal,” a description of the beer read. Whether you ate them first or saved them for last, we’ve got you covered with our latest beer.”
Unfortunately, the beer is only available for a limited time at their locations.
The beer has led to some mixed opinions on social media.
"Please be honest here," one user wrote. "Looks like something for kids. Why can the beer industry get away with this, yet adult marketed vape products are getting shunned 24/7."
Another added: "We need this. Been talking about it all morning."
While one Instagram user wrote: "This beer has been generating a lot of hype on twitter... I hope I don’t have to camp out in line to get it."
