Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment have been waiting for this day for a long time and it's finally here. The Last of Us Part II launched June 19, a sequel to the 2013 action-adventure game, The Last of Us.
It's been a highly anticipated game, with the first rendition being called "the game of the decade, a cultural phenomenon within the video game industry," according to gamer Steve Saylor, who spoke with CNN. There is so much to love about this game, according to fans who are already up and playing on launch day, but The Last of Us Part 2 "employee of the month" has caught some attention.
What is 'The Last of Us Part 2'?
In The Last of Us Part 2, players see the game through the eyes of Ellie, a 14-year-old heroine living in a post-pandemic world that's turned people into zombies from a fungal plague. Players are tasked with either evading or killing the zombies and humans who get in the way in order to protect Ellie. Somehow, Ellie is immune to the infection and may hold the clues needed to find a cure for the fungal zombie plague.
This world takes place five years after the previous The Last of Us game and, through Ellie's perspective, the goal is to make it through the gameplay keeping her safe.
What makes 'The Last of Us Part 2' so popular already?
The first game was highly regarded as not just a great story, but the game itself had amazing visuals, landscapes and interesting tasks to get through. The Last of Us Part 2 is very similar in that regard—with the added storylines that people were already attached to in the first game carrying on in this chapter.
What makes this particular game so interesting is its diverse accessibility features – one of the first of its kind – that allows for easier access to playing by those who are disabled.
"This is a first time we have seen a game where every piece of text on screen had text to speech in it," Steve said to CNN. "Anyone without visual impairment could actually close their eyes and be able to play this game with all the settings turned on. That's how powerful it is."
One of the first clues 'The Last of Us Part 2' gamers have to find is the employee of the month.
Fans already had a feeling this game was going to be stellar and the launch date success proved that it didn't disappoint. As players got their hands on the game and were finally able to jump through the story, it became clear pretty early on that there was one fun surprise in the game – The Last of Us Part 2 employee of the month.
In the gameplay, players come across safes and locked doors and in order to move forward, they have to solve the combinations – answers which are hidden through clues. One of the clues came in the form of a notice on a board for the employee of the month.
According to Game Radar, one of the first safes that needs to be opened is inside the market. The safe is behind the first door and the combination comes down to one of the signs on the wall – specifically "the date my good boy got employee of the month – 072013."
