No one likes to be met with a buffering screen or even a dreaded "try again later" or "an unknown error occurred" notice when playing a game or doing literally anything else that requires an online server. So when some Rocket League fans get the "call limit reached" message, they can't help but get a little frustrated. And some aren't quite sure what it even means.

Every so often, players complain about a resurgence of that notice on their screens while playing the game. It seems to be an issue that comes and goes, but it never quite goes away as a whole. Now, players are once again asking what "call limit reached" means in Rocket League and how to get rid of it.

What does "call limit reached" mean in 'Rocket League'?

Although players have been getting the "call limit reached" notification for literal years, it's never easy for gamers to be hit with the notice while trying to start a game. According to Esports, the error pops up when the game's servers are overloaded. Think of it as TikTok or another platform suddenly being unable to load your feed unless you leave the app and come back in or restart it altogether.

But for gamers, it's a bit more frustrating than that. Professional gamers have to deal with an unexpected break in playing, and other players have to try to exercise patience as they wait for the game to work for them. You'll get the "call limit reached" error on your screen if there are just too many players trying to get on at the same time and the servers can't handle it.

You'd think that Epic Games, which owns Rocket League, would be able to get it together for the servers, but it also depends on how many people try to get on at once. And, to be fair, Fortnite, which is also under the Epic Games umbrella, does sometimes get a similar error message for the same reason.

And it's an ongoing issue that players have been complaining about for years, even if you play a ton and only get the error every once in a while. On a Reddit thread about it, a player noted that they'd played for thousands of hours before they ever saw the error message once.

Someone pointed out, "I restarted, and it was fine, but I don't like it. It feels like a machine is putting you on hold."

You might be able to fix the "call limit reached" error.

Another reason for the "call limit reached" error is a possible scheduled maintenance or downtime for the programmers. In this case, there isn't really a way around it. However, there are some things you can do to potentially get in the game, even if you are met with the error message on your screen.

According to The Spike, you can restart Rocket League or even restart whatever platform you're using. You can also check to make sure your internet connection is solid, and that there are no issues on your end. If the problem is happening for everyone, though, and you find this out by checking the Rocket League server status, you might need to just wait it out.
