'Modern Family' Is Ending Sooner Than We Thought — and We're Not OK

A modern farewell is upon us, and to be honest, we aren't OK. The hit ABC series Modern Family is about to kick off its final season, so we, fortunately, do have a slew of episodes left to watch before the series closes its curtains for good. However, dedicated fans can't help but wonder: When is Modern Family actually ending? Scroll down for everything we know about the last season of the show!
When is Modern Family ending?
Unfortunately for fans, Modern Family is ending sooner than we thought. Based on the previous 10 seasons being between 22 and 24 episodes long and ending in the spring, we are expecting the series to wrap up sometime in mid-May 2020. However, the total amount of episodes for Season 11 has not yet been confirmed by the network.
Well, at least we can still look forward to seven whole months of the series!

Who from the cast is returning for the final season of Modern Family?
Excitingly enough, the original cast of Modern Family will be returning to help wrap up the final season. That said, expect to see familiar faces Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and Jeremy Maguire represent the Dunphy, Pritchett, and Tucker families.
What will the final season of Modern Family be about?
The final season of Modern Family will touch on some of the show's biggest storylines (like Haley becoming a mom to twins)... and hopefully some new ones as well!
However not much has been disclosed about the final season since co-creator Steve Levitan had no idea it was going to happen. "I thought Season 10 was going to be it," he once shared.
But apparently, fans have some exciting things to look forward to. "In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss,” ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said of Modern Family.
