If you follow any of the cast members from Season 1 of The Goat on Prime Video, you might have heard rumblings about the series well before it premiered. And if that's the case, then you might be wondering when Season 1 of The Goat was filmed. Or, perhaps more importantly, where. Because there's plenty about the House of Villains-esque reality show that had fans talking before it even premiered.

The first three episodes of The Goat dropped on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee on May 9 with a promise of more weekly episodes to follow. And the premise is simple — 14 known reality TV stars live under the same roof and compete for the grand prize (and only prize) of $200,000. We have Kristen Doute from Vanderpump Rules and The Valley, Lauren Speed from Love Is Blind and Da'Vonne Rogers from Big Brother, along with other stars. And it's pretty dramatic from the start, thanks in part to host Daniel Tosh.

When was 'The Goat' Season 1 filmed?

Although there is no mention of dates or a timeline in the first few episodes of The Goat, thanks to Survivor legend Wendell Holland, who also competes on The Goat, we have a general idea of when the first season filmed. And it looks like it took quite a while for the show to go from filming it to actually getting it on the streaming platform.

Wendell mentions the impending birth of his baby in the first episode of The Goat. According to Instagram, Wendell's daughter was born in May 2023. Going by that, it would seem that Season 1 of The Goat filmed in early 2023. That also adds up because Kristen makes no mention of The Valley, a Vanderpump Rules kind of/sort of spinoff that was years in the making and premiered not long before The Goat dropped its first episodes.

The filming location for 'The Goat' might look familiar to NFL fans.

It should come as a shock to literally no one watching The Goat that it was filmed in Georgia, thanks to that handy "explore Georgia" notice at the end of the credits after each episode. But to dig a little further into where the show was filmed and where Goat Manor is more accurately located, it looks like it is the former Atlanta home of retired NFL player Robert Mathis.

In April 2018, Realtor.com shared news of Mathis listing his mansion, which lays on 16 acres and boasts nine bedrooms and bathrooms and an elevator, to sell. And it looks exactly like the Goat Manor we've come to know and love from the reality show.

According to records, the house had a price change and the listing was removed multiple times since then. In May 2023, it was sold. But before that sale date, if Mathis still owned the home, it's possible that he rented it out to be used for filming, especially if filming really did occur in early 2023. What that sale means for the future of the show, should there be more seasons, is a little less clear, however.

Watch The Goat on Prime Video and Freevee on Thursdays.
