This Woman Glued Her Armpit Shut While Trying to Wax It

A young woman tried having a "surprise" waiting for her boyfriend when he returned from a vacation and it unfortunately involved wax and a lot of regret.

The beauty industry is very, very good at separating consumers from their money by attacking our shallow need to look beautiful. While there's nothing wrong with wanting to look pretty, companies and influencers are pushing some pretty gnarly beautification methods  every day.

The sheer fact that people shave their eyebrows and tattoo new ones on them is kind of weird. But even some of the more common beauty practices, like lancing your flesh to hang metallic hoops through them or shoving your feet into high-heeled pumps, are equally bizarre and just as painful, if not more.

But out of all the common beauty trends that boggle my mind, I'd say waxing is probably the craziest.

While I understand that beauty is pain and that hair is unsightly on some parts of the body, why anyone would heat up a substance that's designed to be poured onto our flesh and then use it to tear the hair out of the follicle is beyond me.

Especially when things can go terribly wrong. And no, I'm not just talking about this hilarious scene from The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Kiera Stirton from Glasgow, Scotland, had a bit of an accident while waxing her armpit. The malfunction "fused" her pit skin together, effectively getting rid of her armpit altogether and leaving her with just a wad of flesh between her upper arm and right lat muscle.

According to Kiera's story, however, it wasn't all the wax's fault.

She admits that she forgot that the wax was under her arm while it was still wet and then closed her pit. The end result? Well, a huge gobby mess of wax balled up under her arm that fused her skin together. Kiera found herselfin a very unfortunate predicament. Just watch this and try not cringing:

Many people thought the red mass under her arm was dried up blood that mixed with the wax, but it turns out that this wasn't the case, much to the relief of Kiera's mother.

Kiera's since sworn off the wax and says she's sticking to razors. In all honesty, it's probably a good idea. She was sent to the hospital and thankfully didn't sustain any serious injuries, aside from a tiny cut on her arm after the wax was removed.

The internet is full of "waxing fail" videos involving people using the depilatory method to some hilarious results. Like this one dude who thought it'd be a good idea to go bald... by waxing his entire dome.

Other people seem to have had their own armpit waxing tragedies online as well — not to mention the bruises left behind from literally pulling the hair out of your body.

The things humans do to look beautiful, right? Well at least Kiera wasn't seriously hurt in the process and she got to share her sticky situation with the rest of the internet.
