When political activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025, there were reports of chaos on campus, per the BBC. Elsewhere on campus, classrooms went into lockdown mode. At the time, the suspect in Charlie Kirk's shooting was not caught. Now, officials have released information about the suspect, Tyler Robinson.
In the hours that followed the shooting, videos surfaced of alleged suspects until one particular suspect appeared to fit the bill. According to MSNBC, video surveillance footage of Robinson caused a family member of the man to come forward about him. There was also a $100,000 reward announced by the FBI, per CNBC. But where is the suspect now?

There are videos of Charlie Kirk's shooting suspect.
According to NBC News, the suspect, Robinson, was turned in by family members. As of Sept. 12, he was in custody for Kirk's murder. He is reportedly a resident of Utah and was 22 at the time of the shooting. Although he did not attend Utah Valley University as a student, he was a student at Utah State University, per the Daily Mail.
The outlet also reported that Robinson, who has not yet been found guilty of the shooting, lived in his family's home in Washington, Utah.

There were rumors circulating that Robinson had also appeared at other events where Kirk previously spoke and that he challenged Kirk at times. However, at this time, those rumors have not been confirmed.
Is Charlie Kirk's shooting suspect in custody now?
ABC News reported that there is video footage of the shooting suspect jumping off a roof after Kirk was shot. Although that footage went viral online, it did not immediately lead to a capture or arrest of the suspected shooter. However, according to Donald Trump on Fox & Friends on the morning of Sept. 12, the suspect, who we now know to be Robinson, was caught.
"I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody," Trump said, of the shooting suspect. He added, "The facts are the facts we have the person that we think is the person we're looking for." However, he did admit that it could change, barring the investigation into who shot Kirk.
Prior to this, there were several conspiracies online about who shot the Turning Point USA co-founder. One conspiracy pointed at members of the Republican Party being responsible for Kirk's death. Another suggested that the shooter did not act alone. However, if what Trump said is accurate, there is just one person, Robinson, in custody.
