Just when we thought 2020 couldn't get any stranger, Sacha Baron Cohen announced that Borat 2 (or Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) would be coming to Amazon Prime. Now, the movie has arrived, and it's already caused a couple of significant news stories. The film, which comes 14 years after the original Borat, follows Sacha's Kazakhstani journalist as he returns to America with the goal of marrying his daughter off to someone in the Trump administration.

Did Borat actually crash a Pence rally?

As part of his hair-brained scheme, Borat sneaks into a Mike Pence speech dressed as Donald Trump near the end of the film. The scene is real, and it involved Sacha and Maria Bakalova, the actress who plays Borat's daughter, sneaking into the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hall ahead of Mike Pence's planned speech at the event.

In an interview with the New York Times, Sacha explained just how difficult it was to gain access to the event. Sacha said that he noticed security checking everyone's bodies thoroughly before they were allowed into the event, and he began to wonder how he would be able to sneak in wearing his Trump costume. Ultimately, Sacha said that it required a lot of patience.

"Bear in mind, I spent five hours in makeup that morning with the prosthetic team changing my face into Trump’s face. This fat suit is huge," Baron said of the suit he was wearing to get to Trump's size. "It’s a 56-inch fat suit to turn my waist into Trump’s because we had estimated that was the most realistic.” When a security guard's wand started beeping, Sacha was forced to improvise, saying it was because of his defibrillator.

“Then I ended up hiding in the bathroom, listening to conservative men go to the toilet for five hours until I broke into the room," Sacha continued. "We were surrounded by Secret Service and police and internal security.” Sacha also said that he was intent on getting the film out ahead of the election on Nov. 3, in part as a reminder for women of who they might be voting for or against.

'Borat 2' has already caused problems for Rudy Giuliani.

In addition to crashing a Pence rally, Borat 2 also has a notable scene featuring the president's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. The scene has already received much attention, in part because it seems to show Rudy putting his hand down his pants in a sexually suggestive manner near Borat's daughter, who has already said that she is only 15.

Rudy has denied the allegation on Twitter, claiming that he was only putting his hand in his pants in order to tuck his shirt in. The footage in the film certainly appears to be compromising, and more importantly, it proves that Sacha's goal of creating a relevant, controversial sequel to the first Borat was successful. Whatever you think of his methods or his comedic styling, Sacha Baron Cohen knows how to provoke better than anyone else in comedy.
