The Doomsday event scheduled to conclude this season of Fortnite is upon us. Season 2 has been building up to this moment, and after a few delays, we’ll finally know what the big countdown is leading up to.

You can tune in to the event on June 15 or log on later to see the result of whatever happens during the Doomsday event as Fortnite says a long-awaited goodbye to Season 2.

How can I watch the 'Fortnite' Doomsday event?

The Doomsday event works like any of the other in-game events Fortnite and Epic Games holds. When you log onto the game, you’ll have the option to join only one playlist for the event. You’ll be able to join the playlist up to 30 minutes before it starts, and it’s recommended to get there early to secure your spot to watch the event.

You can still join the playlist once it starts, but just be wary that due to the large volume of players trying to join around that time, it may take you a while to get in.

The event is set to start at 2 p.m. EST on June 15, so it’s best to leave yourself plenty of time to prepare to join the playlist. If you’re in the middle of a battle at the time of the event, your battle will likely be paused so you can watch the event.

If you can’t join the playlist before the event starts, or you’re not able to hop on the game at that time, there will likely be plenty of Fortnite streamers who will be livestreaming the event, so you’ll still be able to watch it in real time even if you’re not logged on.

What is the Doomsday event?

There’s been a huge lead-up to this event, with a countdown timer alluding to it for the duration of the season. The event will take place at the Agency, where Midas has been building something called “The Device” — which has been looking more and more unstable by the day.

“The Storm rages on. Will Midas’ Machine break the Storm?” the official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted, alluding to the event. “The Device is set to be activated on June 15 at 2PM ET. Space is limited! Show up 30 minutes early to help secure your spot and be there live.”

“The Storm” the tweet is alluding to is the one that frequently interrupts players' games, killing everyone. It seems whatever device Midas is working on, he hopes it will destroy this interfering storm.

While the hope is that The Device will destroy The Storm, the Season 3 posters allude that the next season will have a lot of water, so it’s likely that whatever happens during this event, it’ll involve a lot of water.

Some speculate this event will result in the current map being flooded — or at least large parts of it will be submerged in water. This would create an entirely new map scenario for players, and would definitely be a new and exciting result, though what exactly the event promises has yet to be seen.
