Lil Nas X Smells the Roses on the Way Back From Rehab
He also confirmed new music is coming but he's not ready to return to pop stardom "just yet."

Lil Nas X posted a three-minute video statement on Instagram revealing he's spent the past few months in rehab and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the diagnosis that allowed him to enter a mental health program following his arrest last August.
He named it himself, directly, telling fans he'd actually suspected it for years but avoided addressing it because he didn't want to take medication or have people see him differently. The two-time Grammy winner, real name Montero Hill, said he's "just smelling the roses," with the tone notably calm, more reflective than a comeback campaign, and confirmed new music is coming even though he's not ready to return to pop stardom "just yet."

Celebrity Intelligence Takeaway: This is the good stuff. A Grammy winner naming his own diagnosis out loud, on his own terms, without a publicist softening the edges, does more for public understanding of bipolar disorder than a hundred awareness campaigns.
Someone scrolling through their own diagnosis at 2 a.m., feeling like the only person in the world dealing with it, gets to see Montero Hill call it what it is and keep making music anyway. That's not a small thing.
Visibility like this chips away at the shame that keeps people from getting help in the first place, and every time a famous voice says "I'm in treatment and I'm fine," it makes the next person's phone call to a doctor a little easier to make. More of this, please.
