Hollywood is still mourning the shocking death of legendary actor Diane Keaton, who tragically died on Oct. 11. As fans, friends, family, and former colleagues pour in with tributes to her life and career, many have also taken a closer inspection into her personal life.
Diane was confirmed to have dated some of the biggest names in Hollywood, but there were also persistent rumblings about who she was possibly romantically linked to as well, including former co-star Keanu Reeves. Find out the true details of their relationship.

Did Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves have a romantic relationship?
In 2003, Diane and Keanu starred in the Nancy Meyers box office smash, Something’s Gotta Give, in which they play love interests.
A few years after the film’s release, in 2005, rumors began swirling that Keanu had decided to end his relationship with his current girlfriend at the time to pursue Diane — but it was never confirmed, per The List.

The two remained friendly, with Diane even jokingly telling Oprah Winfrey in 2006 that she was going to marry him, but they never appeared to have actually dated each other.
Their final on-camera appearance was during the 2020 Academy Awards when the pair presented the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Diane’s past relationships included nothing but A-listers.
The Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy-winning actor’s earliest public romance was with the person responsible for her career-defining role in Annie Hall: director Woody Allen. The two dated and lived together briefly in the 1970s after initially meeting in 1969, per CBS News.
In addition to collaborating on eight films together between 1972 and 1993, the two remained very close friends up until her death.
Arguably, her most serious relationship was with The Godfather trilogy co-star (and fellow Oscar winner) Al Pacino. After initially meeting during the first film, Diane admitted she had a “crush” on him that eventually led to a full-blown romance.
"I was mad for him. Charming, hilarious, a nonstop talker," Diane told People in a 2017 interview. "There was an aspect of him that was like a lost orphan, like this kind of crazy idiot savant. And oh, gorgeous!"

In her 2011 memoir Then Again, Diane shared that her work in the film was all because of him and their romance. "For me, the Godfathers, all three of them, were about one thing — Al. It was as simple as that," she wrote.
Later in the book, she revealed that differing views on marriage led to their eventual breakup. "Poor Al, he never wanted it. Poor me, I never stopped insisting," Diane wrote.
Following the pair’s breakup, Diane began dating Warren Beatty, and the two also starred together in his 1981 film Reds; however, the glare of the spotlight was reported to be a reason for their split. Like Woody and Al, Diane and Warren also remained friends until her death.
Diane was sadly found dead in her California home in October 2025.
Per People, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to the outlet that they received a call around 8 a.m. local time to Diane’s home and promptly transported her to a nearby hospital.
As of now, there are no further details regarding her death, and a family spokesperson has “asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness,” according to the outlet.
