Every player on Animal Crossing: New Horizons has experience the frustration before: You take a trip to another island, whether with a Nook Miles tour ticket or by visiting a friend, and you're lucky enough to land on an island with an extra desirable resource like bamboo, exotic fruits and flowers, or rare fish. But the problem is even with the maximum spaces in your pocket, you can only take home 40 items max. Not anymore. Read on to learn more about Animal Crossing's new Dodo Delivery feature.

How the new Dodo Delivery feature in 'Animal Crossing' works.

Thankfully, Wilbur and Orville are addressing a need and adding two new services that collectively comprise Dodo Delivery. When you visit an island using Nook Miles or Harv's Island, Wilbur will allow you to ship back items to your personal storage on your home island. This frees up the space in your pockets for more items. This is fantastic news for anyone who lands on Scorpion Island, as they'll be able to fill their pockets with the lucrative arachnids without having to leave behind tools and other items.

You can also "liquidate" your items directly through the Dodo Delivery service if you don't mind a surcharge. Instead of shipping items home you can sell them to Nook's Cranny through the service.

However, be warned that if you decide to liquidate, you won't get the full price for the items you sell. The system works pretty much exactly like the drop box outside Nook's Cranny. When you liquidate your items, there is a 10 percent reduction in the sale price, and you don't get the bells immediately. They are instead deposited into your Bank of Nook account the next morning.

There are conflicting reports on the limits of Dodo Delivery...

While many players have reported using this feature on Nook Miles tours or when visiting their friends' islands, others have said they only received the option when visiting Harv's Island. We will update this post after doing some research of our own, but we have to admit it seems like a fairly useless feature if it's only available for visits to Harv's Photopia, a place nobody has wanted to visit before Wedding Season and likely won't feel the need to visit again once June has passed.

Our best guess is that an upcoming patch will address the issue some players are experiencing with the new Dodo Delivery service to ensure it works for all visits to other islands. Otherwise, no disrespect to Nintendo, but this feature is kind of useless. If it eventually works on all foreign islands for all players, it's a much welcome enhancement to the game!
