Is Sabrina Carpenter related to Karen Carpenter?

Karen Carpenter was one half of the highly successful music duo The Carpenters, along with her brother Richard. The two of them produced several hits through the 1970s, and Karen died when she was just 32 years old.

Sabrina is not related to Karen or The Carpenters in any way. The fact that they share a pretty common last name appears to be just a coincidence.

Sabrina was born in Quakertown, Penn., and while she isn't related to The Carpenters, her aunt is Nancy Cartwright, the long-time voice of Bart Simpson on The Simpsons.

Sabrina gained a reputation through posting videos of herself singing on YouTube, and she was eventually asked to compete in The Next Miley Cyrus Project, a singing contest. From there, she earned a starring role in the Disney series Girl Meets World.

The series helped her get noticed, and she then signed a five-album deal before she had even turned 15. From there, Sabrina balanced acting work, including roles in The Hate U Give and Tall Girl, with continuing to produce music, and her most recent album has been the one to most fully break through with the public. It's unclear whether she'll still act, but for now, she seems focused on music.

Who are Sabrina Carpenter's parents?

Sabrina's parents are Elizabeth and David Carpenter, and they homeschooled Sabrina before she found her way to stardom. Elizabeth is a chiropractor who owns her own practice, but before that, she was a dancer, and Sabrina followed in her mom's footsteps. Her father, meanwhile, was in a garage band, but Sabrina added that she never saw her father perform.

“My dad says he was in a band, but I think it was like a garage band — and I don’t really know if that’s true," she once said in an interview.

Sabrina also said that her family encouraged her to perform starting at a young age. “I remember being like 8 and 9 years old singing karaoke,” she recalled.

Sabrina is also one of four sisters, and it was her father who built her first ever recording studio. Given how young she started out, it's clear that Sabrina's parents were immensely supportive of her career. Now, she's become the kind of major star that her parents likely always believed she could be.
