It seems like every season of Love on the Spectrum comes with a fan favorite couple. For Season 3, that happened to be James B. and his girlfriend, Shelley.
Not only did people find James charming, but they also instantly fell in love with Shelley.
However, while we know James is autistic because of his involvement with the show, what do we know about Shelley? Is she autistic, too?
The charming young reality star addressed it after public outcry over controversial statements about autism made by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F Kennedy Jr.
Here's what we know.

Is Shelley from 'Love on the Spectrum' actually autistic herself?
The stars of Love on the Spectrum are autistic, and many of their partners are too. But what about Shelley Wolfe?
The charming woman who swept James B. off his feet has a unique personality, and some fans are curious about whether she is autistic, too.
The answer is: Yes. Shelley herself cleared things up in April 2025. Secretary of HHS, RFK Jr., made disparaging comments about autistic people that had the community seeing red. He has been famously quoted as saying, "Autism destroys families.”
Several stars from Love on the Spectrum felt compelled to speak up and dispute his comments, including Shelley.
On April 17, 2025, she took to TikTok to make a since-deleted video and declare, "I am autistic, and my life is not a tragedy." She added, "Autism has definitely made my life harder, but it’s something that shouldn’t be told that we need to prevent. It’s something that we should accept and understand in society" (excerpts via In Touch Weekly).
Shelley concluded, “Autistic people are not broken. They just think differently.”

What does it mean that Shelley is a "Drainer"?
If you follow Shelley, you may be aware that people refer to her as a "Drainer." But what exactly does that mean? It comes from a niche fandom to a 2010s group called the Drain Gang.
Fans of the group refer to themselves as Drainers. And, as it turns out, Shelley is a pretty big Drainer. Originally from Southampton, England, Shelley spent some time in Japan growing up and now works as a senior advertising manager, where her bilingual skills are put to good use.
In an interview with SadPrt, Shelley opened up about her involvement with the Drain Gang fandom and how she first got into the Swedish group; "Well, I can’t remember exactly when it was, but I actually found Drain Gang through — well, at that time it was Gravity Boys. I found them through, first of all, Yung Lean. I always really liked Yung Lean."
She added, "And I've always been a huge fan of Whitearmor. I don't really think that he gets the recognition that he truly deserves, because he's so talented, and I really like how he mixes so many different genres together to create this unique sound."
Shelley mused, "As I said earlier, I like Eurobeat; I was brought up in England when you had, like, Basshunter and a lot of the Swedish kind of Eurobeat kind of sound. And I really like how Whitearmor mixes all of these different sounds to get, like, Drain Gang’s unique kind of sound with Bladee and Ecco2k."

The reality star continued, "I just like this dreamy type of cloud rap. It’s this different, internet-born kind of vibe I really enjoy. Plus, the quirkiness of pop culture and putting all those things together."
It might not seem like the type of music she'd be into at first glance, but Shelley has clearly put some thought into the scene.
