The streaming platform Netflix was founded in 1997 and started as a DVD sales and rental by mail service. In 2007, the focus shifted to streaming media and by 2013 CEO Reed Hastings had Netflix in the content-production industry.

Today, the streaming giant operates in more than 190 countries, has over 200 million subscribers, and is valued at over $180 billion.
