Who are Wendy Osefo's parents?

Wendy was born in Nigeria and is part of the Igbo tribe. When she was 3, she and her mother, Iyom Susan Okuzu, and her father moved to the U.S. and lived in North Carolina before they eventually settled in Maryland.

Wendy has spoken about the sacrifices her mother made for her to thrive in the U.S. In May 2023, she published a book, Tears of My Mother: The Legacy of My Nigerian Upbringing, that detailed her mother's struggles to get their family settled in the U.S.

"Wendy Osefo’s mother, Iyom Susan Okuzu, arrived in the United States from Nigeria with two things: a single suitcase and the fierce determination to make a better life for herself and her future family," the book's description read. "And she succeeded: starting out working in a fast-food restaurant and ultimately becoming the director of nursing at a major metropolitan hospital."

Wendy Osefo reunited with her father on 'The Real Housewives of Potomac.'

Wendy hasn't always gotten along with both her parents. In Season 10, Ep. 12, "Potomac and Ponies and Problems," she shared that she reunited with her dad via FaceTime. She explained on the show that she hadn't seen her father physically in 20 years and that they became even more estranged after her parents divorced. Still, Wendy was able to tell him how much she missed him and how she wished she could've seen him in Nigeria during a family trip.

"You know, I bought my whole family and I miss you," Wendy said of the trip.

Wendy's father told her he missed her as well and wished they could spend time together and that he could get to know his grandchildren better.

"I miss my daughter, too," he said via Facetime. "I don't want to dwell in the past. I miss you more than I believe you miss me. It's not easy for me not to have seen my daughter this long and also my grandchildren."

Wendy and her dad left their call hoping to patch up their relationship. While their conversation ended on a high note, the Bravolebrity's mother wasn't pleased about the reunion. During a scene at Wendy's renovated house, she and her mother argued about the meeting, where her mother said she was upset at Wendy for giving her "sperm donor" grace despite his absence from her life. The tense argument ended with Wendy accusing her mom of "having a moment" for the cameras followed by her mom and sister Ivy storming out of her house.

Although she arguably has enough to worry about with her and her husband's legal woes, we hope Wendy can get back on track with both her parents soon.
