2024 looks to be the busiest year for Donald Trump since inciting insurrection back in 2021. On April 15, 2024, the former president went on trial for over 34 felony charges in relation to issuing hush money over a sex scandal with pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels. In late May, he'll be tried for 40 charges of mishandling classified documents while in the White House. Sometime after that, he'll stand trial for his involvement in the aforementioned attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

As of this writing, he is currently held in contempt of court as many within his circle testify against him in his first trial of the year. To that end, many of his former political advisors and allies have already made dramatic statements during the trial. In fact, many are focused on the tearful testimony made by Hope Hicks, who was a political advisor to Trump during his 2016 campaign and subsequent presidency. Her tears are being celebrated by the general public, but why was she crying at all?

Hope Hicks was crying while testifying against Donald Trump. Boo-hoo.

Hope Hicks previously served as a PR executive and political advisor for the Trump administration. During Donald Trump's presidency, she was appointed as White House director of strategic communications and made several questionable and controversial statements in order to defend his actions. She would later resign in March 2018 before moving on to a lofty position at Fox Corporation as chief communications officer.

After being named as a person of interest in several counts of obstruction of justice with regard to the Trump administration, she briefly resumed duties at the White House in 2020. However, she would turn against him toward the end of his presidency after Trump falsely claimed election fraud in 2020 upon losing to Joe Biden.

She would avoid the limelight for several years until 2024, when she would provide testimony against Donald Trump over the Stormy Daniels scandal on May 3, 2024.

Reportedly, the former advisor was in tears while on the stand. Many analysts theorized that she was overwhelmed by the mere memory of having to work for Donald Trump.

Bloomberg concluded, "As it turns out, the merest memory of working for or in proximity to Trump is enough to unravel some people." After regaining her composure, she would divulge her role in covering up some of Donald Trump's sex scandals during his election campaign.

Where does Hope Hicks work now?

Hope's testimony has provided deeper insight into Trump's ongoing controversies, but aside from that, she has unsurprisingly shied away from politics following her stint with the Trump administration. Of course, controversy has a way of following anyone who has ties with Trump.

In March 2024, Politico reported that Hope was currently doing communications consulting for fashion retailer Shein. For those keeping track, yes, this is the same Shein that has come under fire for intellectual property infringement, labor law violations, and harmful environmental impact throughout the 2020s alone. If nothing else, she seems to have made a hobby of putting out proverbial oil fires.
