Kamala Harris is notorious for never backing down from a challenge. The former Attonery General of California and now junior Senator from the State, she has always had a reputation for knowing just the right questions to ask during hearings. It sort of comes with the territory when you've got a background in law.
So Tuesday's hearings over the James Comey firing were no different.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions took part in a public hearing on Tuesday so that he could be questioned by the Senate about contacts held with Russian officials and his part in the firing of FBI director James Comey. It was a mostly ineffective hour long questioning as he mostly refused to directly answer and of the Senators questions on the matter.
When it was time for Senator Kamala Harris to question Sessions, she stuck to her guns and demanded he explain why he was refusing to answer certain questions. Sessions got antsy, at one time exclaiming that Harris was making him "nervous." It wasn't a good look for the current Attorney General and it's a response that's surely going to upset his often rage-filled boss, President Donald Trump.
Then Harris was shut down by the moderator in a way essentially no other senator was. People guessed why:
And even after Harris was silenced, pundits were still picking her apart in a way they probably wouldn't if she were a man. A white man. Like when she got called "hysterical:"
But she's not done asking questions:
And there are plenty of people who were LIVING for Harris's reactions to Sessions' evasive answers:
Unfortunately, she's had a lot of practice for how to react when men interrupt her.
Jeff sure knows how to squirm. You go Senator Harris.
