As fans of Chicago Fire, we are highly protective of the firefighters whose stories we have followed for 12 seasons.

So, when a new firefighter joins the team, well, aren't we right to be suspicious of whether they'll fit in?

So, who is Jack Damon on 'Chicago Fire'?

We first meet Jack Damon in "The Wrong Guy." Per NBC, he is Derrick Gibson's (Rome Flynn) replacement after he leaves to focus on his mental health — a commendable choice.

Jack attaches himself to Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) right away. He even helps her arrange a TV interview to gain funding for her Girls on Fire program.

While at first it seems like Jack is going to be a huge asset to the station, a phone conversation Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) overhears soon sheds new light on his potential motivation for being there.

The new firefighter may not be a good replacement for Gibson after all.

Darren ends up stumbling upon a conversation his new co-worker is having with an unknown person.

"That isn't the only reason why I'm here," fans hear the newbie say. His tone is different than when he was kissing up to Stella. "No, no, nobody here knows. And I'll keep it that way for as long as I want."

Fans may be wondering if Jack is a spy, which was already a storyline this season. If not, why is he there?

The only color we have on the situation at the moment comes courtesy of Hanako Greensmith, aka Violet Mikami, on Chicago Fire.

As she told NBC Insider, "I think the family aspect of [Firehouse 51] — we are welcoming to newcomers — but we are also, I don't want to say judgmental, but we are not necessarily overly welcoming."

"We have to have someone pass a series of tests until they can really be absorbed by the family," Hanako went on to say. She shared that when it comes to Jack, "So there may be a couple of red flags that come with this suspicious newcomer, and I think you'll have to stick with us for the rest of the season to see what they may be."

Michael Bradway plays Jack Damon.

Until we learn more about Jack's true motivation for joining Station 51, let's get to know Michael Bradway, who plays him.

The new star only started acting professionally in 2021 per his IMDb. Previously, Michael appeared in short films Tino and Piece.

We also know he is excited to join the Chicago Fire team. He posted on Instagram in April, "Got to be a part of the Chicago Fire Family for Season 12! Can’t wait for you guys to see it next week!"
