In early May 2024, it was widely reported that American politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had a dead worm in his brain. Doctors previously informed RFK Jr. that a parasite had somehow entered his head and eaten part of his brain, causing bouts of memory loss and brain fogginess back in 2010. If nothing else, that might certainly explain some of his absurd behavior and rhetoric throughout his career.

Despite his status as a member of the prestigious Kennedy family — who have had a long-standing reputation for political and philanthropic activity in the United States for several decades — and his experience as an environmental lawyer, RFK Jr. has a history of controversy thanks to his stances on vaccines and his faith in conspiracy theories. As he aims to run for president in the 2024 election as an independent candidate, his net worth has come under some scrutiny as he gears up for a campaign.

RFK Jr.'s net worth doesn't exactly imply a difficult campaign road.

Surprising absolutely no one, the Kennedy family has amassed an enormous family fortune, much of it coming from stock speculation and real estate investments made by Joe Kennedy, the father of President JFK.

According to a 2015 report by Forbes, the family's collective net worth, which includes Joe's 29 now-adult grandchildren, was estimated to be over $1.2 billion.

Compared to that, however, RFK Jr.'s net worth is barely a drop in the bucket. Forbes once again reported in 2023 that on his own, RFK Jr. is worth $15 million. This even includes the assets of his wife, actress Cheryl Hines.

While that's no small amount by any standard, it only amounts to little more than 1 percent of the family's net worth. What's more, much of his 2024 presidential campaign will have to be done without his family's financial support.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Politician, Environmental Lawyer

Net worth: $15 million

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is an American politician and a member of the Kennedy family. Despite his work as an environmental lawyer, he has long touted anti-vaccination rhetoric and has spread conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Name: Robert Francis Kennedy Jr.

Birthdate: Jan. 17, 1954

Birthplace: Washington, D.C., US.

Father: Robert F. Kennedy

Mother: Ethel Kennedy

Spouses: Emily Black (m. 1982; div. 1994), Mary Richardson (m. 1994; died 2012), Cheryl Hines (m. 2014)

Children: 6

Amidst his less-than-stellar reputation, the Kennedys denounced RFK Jr. back in 2023 after video footage surfaced of him spouting racist and antisemitic conspiracy theories related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many family members publicly criticized his comments as they attempt to distance themselves from his rhetoric.

As far as his campaign is concerned, RFK Jr. has long asked supporters for financial donations to fund his campaign in lieu of personal funding or his family's financial support.

According to many reports, RFK Jr. will be the first Kennedy family member to run for president without the backing of his family. Too bad he missed out on naming the dead worm in his brain as his running mate.
