Is Lana Del Rey Dating Anyone in 2023? What We Know Ahead of Her Ninth Studio Album

Since so many of Lana Del Rey’s songs focus on the subject of love, romance, and heartbreak, it makes sense that her fans would be so curious about what her actual love life is like in real life. The inspiration behind a lot of Lana's lyrics comes from the real-life experiences she’s been through in the romance department … even though a lot of those experiences haven’t been the most blissful.
Here’s the breakdown of Lana’s current dating situation.
Is Lana Del Rey currently dating anyone?
In 2023, the Grammy-nominated artist is by all appearances single. Her most recent relationship was with indie "witch house" musician (and total bad boy) Jack Donoghue, who hard-launched their relationship on Instagram in July 2022.
In a since-deleted post captioned "family visit," photos showed the two musicians side by side outside of Chicago’s Cook County Jail. The aesthetic photos exploded on Twitter, a viral tweet even comparing the duo to Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson — you know, an alternate reality Kim and Pete.
A source close to Jack told the Daily Mail that the two were "this unexpected power couple of dark, twisted Americana," which is a wild statement.
"They seem really into each other. I mean, she's made pretty clear in her music she likes bad boys with tattoos; Jack is that to the Nth level," they continued. Additionally, said insider disclosed that "Jack is really romantic" and was "totally crazy about Lana."
Sometime after Lana attended Jack's 33rd birthday party in L.A. in May 2022, her entanglement with the Salem band member (who possibly dated Courtney Love once upon a time) reportedly fizzled. It's not clear when exactly the two called it quits.
"Omg the breakup is gonna give us such good music," Twitter user @ordaneri wrote in response to the iconic Cook County Jail pics. He's not wrong!
What does the rest of the "Summertime Sadness" singer's dating history look like?
It was super exciting when the world found out in December 2020 that Lana Del Rey was engaged to marry Clayton Johnson, whom she'd reportedly met months earlier on a dating app. He's a handsome musician from a band called Stereo Skyline.
Unfortunately, the engagement didn't last long. According to the Mirror, a source revealed in October 2021, “Lockdown had it struggles and they have sadly gone their separate ways.”
Following her breakup, she deleted all her social media profiles in September 2021, explaining that she had "so many other interests and other jobs [she's] doing that require privacy and transparency." Seeking privacy in the midst of a broken engagement is completely understandable.
Prior to her short-lived engagement to Clayton, Lana dated some other interesting individuals over the years. In 2019, Lana was dating Tulsa-based cop and star of Live PD Sean Larkin. In December of that year, she made it official on Instagram by posting a PDA-filled picture of the two together.
They even hit the red carpet together for the 2020 Grammy Awards. The relationship didn't last.
However, Sean must still have a place in her heart, as the "Young and Beautiful" singer promoted her 2023 album Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd via a billboard in Tulsa, Okla.
Hilariously, Lana revealed on her private Instagram account that the billboard in her ex's city is the only one in existence. She even clarified that "It’s. Personal." We live for the drama.
From April 2017 to July 2017, Lana was in a brief relationship with G-Eazy. The relationship didn’t last too long, so it shouldn’t have been that big of a deal in general … except for the fact that he name-dropped her in one of his songs months after their split. The song, which is titled “Moana,” includes the lyrics, “I know a Keisha and I know Lana. They tried to get me back, but I’m like ‘No, nah, nah.’" The shade is just too real.
It’s widely believed among Lana's fans that her song “In My Feelings" is a diss track against G-Eazy, since during one of her performances of the song, she said on stage, “I could name names, but I won’t," while making a G sign with her hands. Who else could she possibly be talking about?
There were rumors that Lana was romantically linked to James Franco in 2014, and although there are plenty of pictures showcasing the two spending time together to fuel the rumors, he insisted they were friends.
She had a relationship with a photographer named Francesco Carrozzini from June 2014 to November 2015, and while they seemed like a good fit, it obviously wasn’t a perfect match.
Lana was said to have been secretly engaged to Scottish musician Barrie-James O'Neill in summer 2013 after having dated since 2011. But by June 2014, she said they'd broken up.
Rumors about Lana dating a music promoter named Andrei Gillott, the Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, and 30 Seconds to Mars drummer Shannon Leto have all had their time to shine as well.
Though she seemingly doesn't have a man in her life as of this writing, Lana Del Rey is surely more focused on the upcoming release of her ninth album, which drops on March 24, 2023.
With vulnerable lyrics like “I don’t trust myself with my heart / But I’ve had to let it break a little more / 'Cause that’s what they say it’s for,” fans are in for an emotional whirlwind.
