To say many Real Housewives of Potomac fans were bummed about Candiace Dillard Bassett’s departure from the Bravo reality show would be a severe understatement.

Candiace was a fan favorite of Potomac because she was unafraid to share her opinion, even if it meant she might have to pull out her cryangle to prove her point further. In March 2024, Candiace announced she was leaving RHOP. The following month, she announced that she and her husband, Chris Bassett, were expecting their first child.

Since her Housewives exit, Candiace has begun doing all the mommy-to-be things: getting some rest, eating her chef hubby’s yummy food, and catching up on the latest Bravo shows. One Bravo show the “Drive Back” singer can’t stop talking about is Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard.

Candiace is all caught up on the breakout show and has many opinions about the cast, namely Amir Lancaster and his girlfriend, Natalie Cortes.

After seeing Candiace's comments about his relationship, Amir clapped back at his Bravo family member, sparking a feud few fans saw coming.

Candiace Dillard Bassett and ‘Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’ star Amir Lancaster’s beef began with the ‘RHOP’ alum’s X discourse.

It’s always refreshing to see A-list celebrities admit they’re just as obsessed with Bravo as the rest of us. It’s even more fun to see Bravolebrities support their fellow brethren. Candiace has often done this for The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Vanderpump Rules but quickly hyper-fixated on Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard.

In addition to attending the show’s Season 2 launch party, Candiace has also been sharing her opinion on the show through live coverage on X, formerly Twitter and Instagram.

Candiace used her platform throughout the season to defend several cast members, including Bria Fleming, who she defended on IG after fans called Milo’s mom “annoying.” Unfortunately, with Candiace’s supportive comments come critiques, as Amir soon discovered.

At the beginning of the season, Amir revealed that he had started dating Natalie, a fellow realtor living in New York. As the season progressed, Natalie began incorrectly rubbing Amir’s female roommates, with Summer Marie Thomas describing her as standoffish.

In April 2024, Episode 6 of the season “A Perfect Summer Storm” showed Natalie and Amir reuniting when some of the roommates’ partners arrived for a couples’ visit. Candiace shared that Natalie and Amir acted “weird” around each other and questioned Natalie’s perceived coldness.

“The amount of coddling taking place with the girlfriend tells me we are missing context in their relationship…maybe as it relates to the show?” Candiace wrote. “Like, is she not comfortable w/him being on the show? Something is missing. He’s on eggshells, and it’s weird.”

The Hush actor also quote tweeted a fan’s opinion of Amir’s relationship. They said they didn’t think Natalie was as invested in them lasting as Amir appeared to be based on her behavior at Jordan Emanuel’s Freaknik party. When the group asked Natalie about their future, she jumped to Amir joining her real estate firm, which she mentioned earns her way more than Amir’s salary.

Amir Lancaster defended his girlfriend against Candiace Dillard Bassett.

Fans of both RHOP and SH: MV were more than invested in Candiace’s feelings about Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard and Amir’s romance. At first, it seemed like Amir would let Candiace’s comments cook, but he briefly addressed them and his feelings about Natalie being on the show.

In a May 2024 interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Amir said Natalie struggled with not wanting to be “too vulnerable” or “too uptight” around the group, ultimately making her look like she didn’t want to be bothered. He also responded to Candiace’s statements and said Natalie fully supports him being on the show but doesn’t want the “spotlight” for herself.

“She’s doing the best that she can, and I really applaud her for that because she’s here to support me,” Amir said. “She’s not here to steal the spotlight, she’s not here to do anything. So she’s going to make sure she gives the right answers that don’t come off too bashful or too entitled or anything like that.”

Amir also addressed Candiace’s reaction to Natalie’s comments about their future. He said Natalie intentionally kept her answers dry.

“So when we’re talking about our business or what the next steps are, she’s giving you the bare minimum,” Amir said in defense of Natalie. “And if I want to come in and put a little whipped cream on top of that, she is excited for that. But she knows that’s not necessary.”

While Candiace and Amir disagree on his role in Natalie’s life, we know we can count on the Housewives star to stay abreast of any changes!
