In June 2024, The Real Housewives of Atlanta began filming for Season 16. And while fans anticipated the usual behind-the-scenes spoilers, no one could’ve predicted the season would have a significant cast exit before the season even began.

Multiple outlets reported that Kenya Moore became the latest cast member to depart following the exits of Season 16 stars Shereé Whitfield, Kandi Burruss, Sanya Richards-Ross, and Marlo Hampton. This sequence of departures underlines the scale of the show’s cast changes.

Amid the news of Bravo’s cast shakeup for the show, Kenya’s presence was appreciated by those who missed RHOA’s “golden era” of being the top show on the network. Not only would Kenya have brought her bold personality, but she would’ve been leading the charge with Porsha Williams as one of the show’s OGs.

In the wake of Ms. Twirl's departure, those who have watched her on RHOA since she first appeared on the show in Season 5 are sad to see her go. Some are extremely angry.

Kenya's departure raises a debate-worthy conversation about why she had to leave due to her actions toward her former co-star Brittany Eady, while other cast members with more aggressive behavior have not faced similar consequences.

Sound Off: Kenya Moore’s exit shows selective outrage across ‘The Real Housewives’ franchise.

On June 6, 2024, Kenya held an event for RHOA Season 16. The event was Kenya’s opening for her business, Kenya Moore Hair Spa, and several cast members were present. During the event, Kenya showed explicit photos of Brittany performing oral sex. The Season 16 newbie wasn’t in attendance.

On June 14, it was revealed that Kenya was suspended from filming the season, though she denied ever engaging in “revenge porn.” Finally, on Tuesday, June 25, TMZ broke the news that Kenya was fired from the season.

No one doubts that the photo evidence of Kenya showing her co-star in a less-than-attractive light should never have been shared. However, in the Housewives world, Kenya’s antics were quite mid.

Several Real Housewives stars have fought, lied, allegedly leaked storylines, and even gone to prison, only to have their shows wait for them after their bad behavior.

As a former Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett said during a Season 8 episode, “The line is always moving.”

The writing was already on the wall for Kenya Moore’s ‘RHOA’ exit, though she will be missed.

People reported that Kenya’s RHOA exit was the network’s choice, not hers. While shocking, the news wasn’t surprising, as the longtime Bravo star had hinted at making her departure for quite some time.

Ahead of RHOA’s Season 16 cast announcement, Kenya shared in multiple interviews that she didn’t feel she got the respect she deserved as someone who has been with the network for over a decade.

In an August 2023 interview with Carlos King, Kenya shared that, unlike many of her peers, she never received a spinoff or other opportunities to advance outside the show.

The Trois actor eventually announced on her Instagram account that she would return to RHOA in Season 16. Just a few weeks later, her fans, #TeamTwirl, honored her time on RHOA.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Kenya addressed #TeamTwirl on her Instagram account. Underneath photos of her daughter, Brooklyn Daly, she said her “conscience is clean” and called out the “false claims” spread about her in the press. Kenya also said she once again denied sharing photos of Brittany and would tell her truth when the time is right.

“The rumors and narrative about me randomly showing nudes or revenge p is 1000% untrue,” she wrote. “I have proof and will share soon.”

Kenya has always been flawed and will always be known as one of the best Housewives villains ever. Scratch that, one of THE BEST HOUSEWIVES OF ALL TIME. Don’t come for me, unless I TWIRL for you!
