The superhero series Supergirl is based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, who is Superman's cousin. Kara was originally sent to Earth to protect her cousin, but her spacecraft was knocked off course and by the time she landed, Superman was all grown up.

However, Supergirl is not alone — she has help from her friends J'onn J'onnz, James Olsen, Winn Schott, and her adoptive sister Alex Danvers.
Supergirl is a spinoff of Arrow, making it part of the Arrowverse, which includes Superman & Lois, The Flash, and Black Lightning. The final season of Supergirlpremiered on March 30, 2021.
