The superhero series The Flash is based on the DC Comics character Barry Allen (aka The Flash). The show, based in Central City, follows the superhero crime-fighter who gains superhuman speed after an explosion at S.T.A.R Labs. The Flash series begins with Barry Allen pursuing his mom's murderer, and goes on to introduce villains such as Zoom, Savitar, and Eva (Mirror Master). 

The Flash is a spinoff of Arrow and part of the Arrowverse universe, which also includes Supergirl and Black Lightning.
