A photo taken by Cecilia Wessels of her husband Theunis as he mows the lawn in their town of Three Hills, Canada, has gone viral, probably because it proves what we all already know: you can't tell dad anything!
Though not all of our fathers have proceeded with home maintenance through tornadoes, it's very much a dad trait to keep doing their thing even when everyone is calling them crazy.
Theunis decided to mow the lawn and he was going to mow the lawn, come hell or high water or a funnel of wind sucking him into the sky:
Cecilia told the Canadian Press that she knew mowing the lawn was on her husband's to-do list on Friday, and as he revved the mower she decided to take a nap. She was woken not long after by her 9-year-old who was freaked because Theunis wouldn't come inside though there was some extreme weather approaching which she described as "something in the sky that resembled a tornado."
And a tornado it was. People all around the Wessels were on their porches taking photos of the wild storm up in the sky:
Obviously, people were frightened and in awe of the incredible tornado, ripping cars and buildings up from the ground. Except for Theunis. He was determined to mow.
Cecilia did tell reporters that the photo is something of an optical illusion. Most of the damage reportedly took place in the more rural areas of the countryside, and not in the town of Three Hills itself. Theunis agreed.
"It looks much closer if you look in the photo, but it was really far away. Well, not really far, far away, but it was far away from us," he said, adding, "I was keeping an eye on it."
