Fans of The Bachelorette franchise are gearing up for quite the season. Yes, every single year, host Chris Harrison says it's "going to be the most dramatic season yet," but this year may just be fitting. Just as the latest season, with Clare Crawley as The Bachelorette, was set to start, COVID-19 happened which shut down the production. Reportedly, though, she's found love while in lockdown and Tayshia Adams is getting set to be the new lead. But, fans are scratching their heads wondering when Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones broke up.
Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones' relationship started on 'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 6.
Fans first got to know Tayshia Adams on The Bachelor where she vied for Colton Underwood's final rose. She and the former football player hit it off really well — and she was even one of the first to kiss him. She made it all the way to the final three when she was sent home right after the fantasy suite after Colton realized how strong his feelings were for someone else (a contestant that had already left the show).
That wasn't the last time fans got to see Tayshia. Later that summer she appeared on Bachelor in Paradise. It didn't take too long for Tayshia to meet someone — John Paul Jones, who fans first met on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette.
On Bachelor in Paradise, Tayshia was involved in a triangle with John Paul Jones and another contestant Derek Peth. She eventually chose to be with John Paul Jones and they were together for most of the season. Until the very last episode when John Paul professed his love for Tayshia who was unable to reciprocate. Fans were devastated as they were really rooting for the couple and all seemed lost for any chance of further romance.
"We had a whirlwind romance, and I think it took me by surprise," she said during the Bachelor in Paradise reunion show. "When he told me he loved me, those were words that I don’t throw around lightly. I wasn’t ready for that. I’m the last one to throw around engagement or marriage. I thought the right thing to do was just to let him go."
All seemed to be done and over with Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones but in another surprise twist, the pair reconciled. Tayshia traveled to Saint Michaels, Md., where John Paul was, to see if he would be willing to give their relationship another chance.
"I talked to my mom about it and I decided I wanted to go after him," she said during the Bachelor in Paradise reunion show. "I’m a bold girl."

He was happy to see her, was excited that she came to ask for another chance, happily said yes, and it looked like they were going to get to see the fairy tale ending.
Then Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones broke up again.
Six weeks after the Bachelor in Paradise reunion show where they shocked the fans with the news they were back together, they had announced they had broken up again.
"I know you guys have been asking about John and I recently, and as much as I like to keep my personal life private, I realize you have all watched and been a part of our journey from the beginning," she said on a now deleted Instagram post. "Therefore to stay true to that, I need to be open and honest with you in order to heal and move on."
"John and I had something incredibly special. We fell for each other in Paradise, and everything was a whirlwind after that. When the show ended, I truly went back to Maryland to see if what we had was something we could build on without cameras, a production crew, and without feeling any pressure: to simply figure things out on our own terms," she continued.
"But the reality was, we were living on opposite coasts, and working insane schedules that made it impossible to see each other and build a life with each other," she wrote. "We truly did the best we could, but at this time have decided that what is best for the both of us is to go our separate ways."
Now, it looks like Tayshia Adams is getting another chance at love as the next lead of The Bachelorette.
