Sadly, Naya Rivera passed away due to an accidental drowning on July 8, 2020, while boating in California with her young son Josey.
Following the tragedy, the former Glee star's sister Nickayla Rivera shared an emotional statement on Instagram.
"There are no words to describe my love for you. Side by side or miles apart, our connection is infinite. Our bond is unbreakable. We were complete opposites, yet simultaneously the same. The yin to my yang. I never knew that by losing you, I would find so much of you in myself," she wrote.
Adding, "I’ve never known a life without you in it & still can’t imagine it. My world is turned upside down. But through it all, everything we were, we are still. I’ll always look at you with the same eyes as I did when I was young. My shmaya, I’ll love you for eternity & miss you every second of my life."

Who is Naya Rivera's younger sister?
The 25-year-old currently works as a model and has a coveted contract with top agency Wilhelmina. Though it remains unclear if Nickayla will continue in this profession in the wake of her sister's passing, DailyMail has recently reported that she seems to be focusing on raising her nephew alongside Naya's ex-husband Ryan Dorsey.
According to the outlet, Nickayla and Ryan currently live together in a three-bedroom rented house and are helping raise the young boy. The two have reportedly "been leaning on each other for support" and were spotted holding hands while shopping at Target on Sept. 19.
"They seem really comfortable together and are obviously helping each other through a very difficult period in both their lives," a person told DailyMail, who spotted the two in Target together. "They were fooling around and chatting the whole time. They're obviously helping lift each other's spirits."
Following the reports, Naya's ex Ryan took to social media and shared a 12-minute video on Instagram to address the accusations and negative comments that have been made against him.
Ryan explained to his followers how the family is attempting to cope with the tragedy. Additionally, the actor revealed that his son Josey asked for Naya's sister to live with them, as Nickayla is now the closest thing the young boy has to his mother.
Naya Rivera's brother played in the NFL.
The late actress also has a younger brother, Mychal Rivera. The 30-year-old former tight end played college football for the University of Tennessee and was drafted in the sixth round by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. After playing four seasons with the NFL team, he was released as a free agent and scooped up by the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, following an injury, Mychal was cut and made a free agent in 2017.
Naya also supported her younger siblings, and in 2012, the actress opened up about encouraging them to pursue their dreams. "First of all, I think it's really cool that we each have our, like, sort of specialty and things that we're good at. I just encourage him, you know, and he appreciates the support from when I watch the games," she said (via Life&Style Weekly).
Mychal added, "My path is sports, hers is acting. You know, we stay on our own paths and we just have fun doing what we're doing."
